Custom Kitchen Cabinets in Coral Gables
Coral Gables was planned in the 1920s largely around Mediterranean Revival architecture, and about one home in ten here predates 1940. In houses like these the cabinets carry much of the look.
- Inset, beaded or full-overlay doors
- Painted or wood-veneer finishes
- Pantries and vanities to match
Cabinets for a Mediterranean Revival house
George Merrick's plan for Coral Gables called for Mediterranean Revival architecture, and the city incorporated in 1925. By Census estimates about one home in ten still dates from before 1940, more than a third from before 1960, and about half of all homes are detached houses.
In a house like that, the cabinets carry much of the look. Framed cabinets with inset or beaded doors read as furniture, and a painted finish beside a stained wood island can suit a Mediterranean Revival interior. Where the ceiling is tall, a second row of glass-front uppers can take the run up to it. Frameless cabinets with full-overlay doors give a cleaner face and use the full width of each box; framed vs frameless explains the trade.
The same shop builds the rest of the cabinetry: a butler's pantry between the kitchen and the dining room, a coffee station, laundry cabinets, vanities in the same door style. For the whole room, see kitchen remodeling in Coral Gables.

Coral Gables, FL · Instant estimate
Know what your kitchen remodel costs before anyone walks through your door.
A few quick questions, one honest range built from what we actually charge in South Florida — not a national average from a website that has never seen your kitchen.
What it costs in 2026
What Dreamery projects cost in 2026: a standard kitchen (15–25 linear ft of cabinets) runs $19,000–$24,500 at the Essential level, more for larger layouts and premium finishes; bathrooms from $6,000 for a powder room to $38,000–$49,000 in labor for a Premium primary suite, plus finish materials you buy at retail; flooring $10–18 per sq ft with a $3,000 minimum; whole-home renovations $35–75 per sq ft of living area. Every number comes from our own signed contracts, not a national average — get the range for your project in the calculator. The in-home measure and the written, itemized estimate are free. 3D design package: $99 (regularly $500), free when you sign the contract.
Cabinets are quoted per project, not per foot from a brochure: the price depends on the number of boxes, door style, finish and hardware. Your 3D design comes with one written, itemized quote where the cabinet line is shown separately from countertops and labor.
Because the cabinets come from our own shop, you skip the showroom markup: the same all-plywood, dovetail-drawer construction at direct-from-manufacturer pricing. Promotional financing is available for qualified buyers through our lending partners; pre-qualification takes about a minute with a soft credit pull.

Large houses and apartment buildings
About a quarter of Coral Gables homes have four bedrooms or more. If your kitchen has room for more than one run of cabinets, the plan can include an appliance wall with panels over panel-ready appliances, an island with drawers on the working side and a pantry wall. Give us the appliance model numbers before production starts, because each opening is built to a specific model.
A third of homes are in buildings of 20 or more units, by Census estimates. In an apartment the cabinets are sized for the service elevator and the corridor, and the association sets the delivery window and work hours, which we get from management before the schedule is set.

Questions homeowners ask us
Inset or overlay doors: which suits an older Gables house?
Inset doors sit flush inside a face frame, a traditional construction that suits a house from the 1920s or 1930s. Full-overlay doors cover the frame and look cleaner. Inset takes more careful fitting, because every door needs an even gap on all four sides, and the 3D design shows both versions in your kitchen before you choose.
Can you build a butler's pantry or a coffee station to match the kitchen?
Yes. Pantries, a coffee station, laundry cabinets and vanities come out of the same shop in the same door style and finish, and they can go on the same itemized quote as the kitchen.
Painted or stained cabinets?
Painted doors give the even color many Mediterranean kitchens call for, and a stained or wood-veneer island beside them adds warmth. Veneer shows its grain, so the designer brings samples to look at in your kitchen's own light.
How are painted cabinets priced?
Per project, with the cabinet line shown separately in the itemized quote. Painted or wood-veneer doors are our Signature level; for the whole kitchen, turnkey without appliances, the calculator gives $31,500–$41,000 for a standard L or U kitchen at that level.
We live in a Coral Gables apartment. Will the cabinets fit the building?
The designer measures the service elevator, the corridor and the turns along with the kitchen, and the boxes are built in sizes that fit. They arrive finished. The association's rules for deliveries and work hours are part of the schedule from the start.
Can glass-front cabinets take the run up to a tall ceiling?
Yes. Where the ceiling is high, a shorter row of glass-front cabinets can sit above the main wall cabinets, so the run reaches the ceiling and the top row shows what is inside. Lighting for it is planned with the rest of the kitchen.
