In 2026 we replaced the oak cabinets in an Oakland Park kitchen with white shaker cabinets built in our shop. Most homes here date from 1950 to 1979, and their kitchens get cabinets drawn for the room.

From oak to white shaker
The Oakland Park kitchen we finished in 2026 had oak cabinets with raised-panel doors and a microwave set into the middle of the wall cabinets. It now has white shaker cabinets, built in our Coral Springs shop and installed by our crew. In the owner's words from a video review: "The cabinetry worked out fantastic. Many South Florida kitchens from the 1980s and 1990s still have oak raised-panel doors like those, and the choice is between new doors and new cabinets. If the boxes are sound and the layout works, refacing replaces the doors, drawer fronts and hinges. If the boxes are particleboard or soft from a leak, or the microwave and the pantry need a new place, new cabinets are the better buy.

Cabinets are quoted per project, not per foot from a brochure: the price depends on the number of boxes, door style, finish and hardware. Your 3D design comes with one written, itemized quote where the cabinet line is shown separately from countertops and labor.

Oakland Park homes and their kitchens

Where does the microwave go if it leaves the wall cabinets?
Into a base cabinet as a microwave drawer, into a tall cabinet at chest height, or over the range. Each opening is built to the model you choose, so choose it before production starts.
Do white shaker cabinets suit an older house?
They suit most houses. A shaker door has a flat center panel in a square frame, so it reads as neither old nor new. Shaker and flat-panel doors start at our Essential level; painted and wood-veneer doors are Signature.
Is refacing cheaper than new cabinets?
If the boxes are sound, usually yes. Refacing at Dreamery starts at $7,500 for new doors, drawer fronts, hinges and pulls. New cabinets are priced with the kitchen: a galley at the Essential level runs $14,000–$18,000 turnkey without appliances, and the itemized quote shows the cabinet line separately.
What are the boxes made of?
Plywood for every box, solid-wood dovetail drawers, and soft-close hinges and slides. It is the standard on every Dreamery kitchen, not an upgrade.
When could our cabinets be installed?
The 3D design and one itemized price come within 5 business days of the consultation. The cabinets are built after you sign, and a typical kitchen is finished 4–6 weeks after the contract is signed.
