What Pembroke Pines bathrooms need
Pembroke Pines grew most in the 1990s. By Census estimates more than a third of its homes were built in that decade, the median home dates from about 1992, and west of I-75 most subdivisions went up after 1992. The primary bath of that era is easy to recognize: a big corner tub, a separate shower with just enough room to turn around, and a builder double vanity.
The usual plan keeps the room and changes what is in it. The tub comes out and its space goes to one large walk-in shower with frameless glass and a niche or a bench. The older parts of the city are different. The first houses went up in 1956 north of Pembroke Road, and Hollybrook, the city's first large condominium, was started in 1973. Bathrooms there are smaller and the original drains may be cast iron, so we look at them during the consultation and the itemized quote covers what they need.

Powder rooms start around $6,000; primary suites run $24,000–$49,000 in labor. Turning a tub into a walk-in shower adds about 25%. Century Village and the condo communities
Century Village, the 55+ community south of Pines Boulevard, has more than 7,000 apartments in 27 floor plans, from about 600 to 1,500 square feet. In apartments this size, the most useful change in the bathroom is often a walk-in shower in place of the tub, with a low threshold, a hand shower and blocking in the walls for grab bars, as long as the drain stays within reach of the building's stack.
In Century Village, Hollybrook and the other condominiums the association approves the work before it starts and sets the hours for noisy work and deliveries. We get those rules first and plan the start date around them.

Can you turn the garden tub in my 1990s home into a walk-in shower?
Usually, yes. The tub platform comes out, the drain is moved where the floor allows, a sloped, waterproofed pan goes in, then tile, a niche or bench and frameless glass. The vanity is usually rebuilt at the same time, with drawers and a quartz top.
We live in Century Village. Can the tub become a shower?
Usually, within limits: the drain has to stay within reach of the building's stack, and the association approves the work first. Where the floor allows, we build a low-threshold shower with a hand shower and blocking in the walls for grab bars.
