What Fort Lauderdale bathrooms need

Fort Lauderdale's housing stock is older than most of Broward, and the bathrooms show it. In Victoria Park, Coral Ridge, Rio Vista, Imperial Point and along the Las Olas Isles, the classic 1950s–60s home has a 5-by-8 bathroom with a cast-iron tub, 4-by-4 wall tile to shoulder height and a single small window. Owners of these homes usually want two things: a real shower instead of a tub they never fill, and storage that does not hang off the wall. We gut to the studs, check and often replace the drain and supply lines, then rebuild with a walk-in shower, a wall-to-wall vanity from our shop and layered lighting.

On the beach and along the Galt Ocean Mile, the work is in high-rises, and the building sets the rules: board approval before anything starts, contractor insurance on file, elevator reservations, work hours, and a plumbing stack you design around rather than move. We have a package ready for the association, we plan the layout within the existing drains, and we sequence deliveries so a bathroom in a 20th-floor unit runs as smoothly as one in a house.

Everywhere in the city, humidity and salt air decide the materials. We specify solid-surface or porcelain where cultured marble used to be, corrosion-resistant hardware, plywood cabinet boxes rather than particleboard, and ventilation that is actually sized for the room — the details that keep a Fort Lauderdale bathroom looking new past the first summer.

What it costs in 2026

What Dreamery bathrooms cost in 2026: we price bathrooms as labor plus rough materials. You buy the finish materials (tile, fixtures, a stock vanity) at retail from our exact shopping list with no markup, or we build a custom vanity in our Coral Springs shop and quote it as its own line. A small full bath (5×8) runs $12,000–$15,500 in labor at the Essential level, $15,000–$19,500 at Signature and $19,000–$24,500 at Premium, plus roughly 35–70% of that for finish materials. Powder rooms start around $6,000; primary suites run $24,000–$49,000 in labor. Turning a tub into a walk-in shower adds about 25%; a permit package about $3,500. 3D design package: $99 (regularly $500), credited in full when you go ahead with the project.

Every bathroom gets one written, itemized price for the work, fixed before work starts: demolition, waterproofing, tile and stone setting, vanity and fixture installation, plumbing and electrical changes, permits and project management on one page. Finish materials go on a separate shopping list, so nothing hides in an allowance.

When the vanity and storage come from our own shop, you skip the showroom markup on the cabinetry line. Promotional financing is available for qualified buyers through our lending partners; pre-qualification takes about a minute with a soft credit pull.

Permits and condo buildings in Fort Lauderdale

Bathroom work that touches plumbing or electrical is permitted through the City of Fort Lauderdale, with inspections at rough-in and final. That is routine and included. Condo buildings add their own layer: an architectural or alteration application, proof of insurance, a deposit in some buildings, and fixed work hours. We prepare the application with drawings from the 3D design so the board sees exactly what is proposed, and we keep the plumbing within the unit's stack — the single biggest reason condo bathroom approvals stall.

In the older single-family neighborhoods, the surprise is usually under the slab: cast-iron drains from the 1950s and 60s that are rusted thin. We look at the drains during the consultation and price the replacement up front if it is needed, so the itemized quote is the real number.

Questions homeowners ask us

Can you remodel a bathroom in a Fort Lauderdale condo?

Yes — beachfront high-rises and Las Olas condos are a regular part of our work. We prepare the association's alteration package, carry the insurance buildings require, work within the posted hours and design around the existing plumbing stack so approvals go through.

Can you convert my tub into a walk-in shower?

Yes. In the typical 5-by-8 Fort Lauderdale bathroom the tub comes out, the drain is relocated if needed, a sloped pan and waterproofing membrane go in, then tile, a niche and frameless glass. The plumbing is inspected before the shower is closed up.

How long does a bathroom remodel take in Fort Lauderdale?

It depends on scope: a shower or vanity update is much faster than a full gut, and condo approvals add lead time before work starts. Whatever the scope, the finish date goes into your contract in writing, with a penalty schedule for delays on our side.

What materials hold up near the ocean?

Porcelain and quartz surfaces, plywood cabinet boxes instead of particleboard, stainless or PVD-finished hardware, and a properly sized exhaust fan. We bring samples to the consultation and explain what each choice means for maintenance in salt air.

Do you build the vanities yourselves?

Yes. Vanities, linen towers and medicine cabinets are built in our Coral Springs shop — all-plywood boxes, dovetail drawers, soft-close hardware — sized to your wall and matched to your tile.

Which Fort Lauderdale neighborhoods do you serve?

All of Fort Lauderdale: Victoria Park, Coral Ridge, Rio Vista, Las Olas Isles, Harbor Beach, Galt Ocean Mile, Imperial Point, Lauderdale Manors and the surrounding towns — Wilton Manors, Oakland Park, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Our shop is about 30 minutes away in Coral Springs.
