Remodeling an Oakland Park kitchen
Oakland Park began as Floranada in the 1920s and took its present name in 1929, but most of its homes came after the war. By Census estimates about 64% of today's homes were built between 1950 and 1979, and the 1950s was the single biggest decade, with more than a fifth. Half of all homes have two bedrooms.
In a compact kitchen, the plan usually starts with storage and light: cabinets that reach the ceiling, drawers instead of deep base shelves, a counter without a break where the layout allows, and lighting under the wall cabinets. Opening a wall to the living room depends on whether it carries the roof, which we find out before the design relies on it.

Houses from the 1950s and 1960s, and the condos
A house built in the 1950s or 1960s brings what houses of that age bring: drain lines that may be cast iron, an electrical panel that may need more capacity for today's appliances, and an interior wall that may carry the roof. We look at each during the in-home measure, so the design and the written price account for them, and anything found after demolition is priced and approved by you before work continues.
